In a recent study published in the international journal Stem Cells, scientists from Queen's University Belfast have developed a new treatment for cardiovascular disease linked to blood vessels and diabetes. In the article, researchers developed a new technique that can produce large numbers of stem cells in a short period of time using a small number of blood samples, which can then replace intravascularly damaged cells, a treatment that promises to suppress a variety of vascular-related complications in diabetics, including heart attacks, kidney disease and blindness.
Researcher Andriana Margariti says the ability to produce large numbers of stem cells with a few milliliters of blood in a short period of time may be a truly groundbreaking achievement that promises to revolutionise the way we treat a large number of vascular diseases;
